He finds out all too late that his pockets though they were bulging all the time were actually empty.
I've been reading this thread for a while, and this is the only good description I've seen of why being able to be a ninja is not only a staple of what makes a good game great, but a testament to CCP's ability to make a game that everyone can grow to love if they find the gem that appeals to them.
What really makes me laugh about the argument against ninjas, is the fact that salvage is one viable profession, while mission running is another. Mission runners seem to want to have their cake and eat it too. Some of the proposed ideas would totally cut out salvaging as a decent primary ( short-term ) profession for young players. Do you really think CCP wants that? CCP wants people to play and enjoy the game how they wish within the boundaries that they created.
If that means being a pirate and killing whoever you don't recognize, there is a place for that. If it means grinding missions and hoarding ISK, there is a place for that. If it means mining ore day after day, to provide players with the ability to produce goods, there is a place for that. If it means wanting to be a scoundrel that hides in the shadows, just waiting for the chance to feed off another persons work. Guess what. There is a place for that also.
If mission runners have a problem with this game mechanic, remind yourself that you signed up for a space-based MMO that is as close to a true sandbox as you can get, not your own personal command mission simulator. I pray that CCP will never listen to the vocal minority that of whiners that seem to be an inescapable part of any MMO.
